Working on a project using team iconography from the 90s with Ethan Laek has me thinking about some of my favorite riders. Soviet racer Djamolidine Abdoujaparov is definitely in that category. In addition to having a baddass, Bond-villain-worthy name, when Abdou inserted himself into a sprint (wait, scratch that - he WAS the sprint), one quickly learned exactly what "edge of the seat" meant. An electrifying rider in an era of cycling that has produced many.
