It's not often you'll find G+D at a flea market. Partly because we don't like getting up early (when all the good deals are made), and partly because we honestly never need bike parts since we just retend our bikes always work and, oh, that noise coming from the rear derailleur? - it will just "work itself out over time."

But when there's a bike swap in your back yard, it's hard to say no. So we'll see you at the Booklyn Bike Jumble this Saturday. We'll be the white guys standing behind the folding table with bike stuff on it. What we'll have specifically we can't be sure, because it's going to be dragged over on a bike and we haven't decided yet. Suffice it to say there'll be books and magazines. And some Red Hook Crit merch. And maybe Brett will haul over some insane 1980s flouro whatchamacallits.

Bring cash. Bring cards. Bring us some coffee.

We were reminded of this when we noticed an uptick of riders on 9W this weekend, partly because of the weather, but most likely in preparation for the Fondo.

While we're not participating in the Gran Fondo (it's a ride we can do any day of the week), we are very excited for THIS ride:

That's correct. Former pro Pacho Rodríguez (COLOMBIA - Splendor-Modial Moquettes), stage winner of the Dauphiné-Libéré, a man who has stood on the podium of the Vuelta a España, and who has completed the Tour de France, will be joining Klaus from Cycling Inquisition and the G+D crew for a little recon of the GF course up to Bear Mountain. Pacho is in his 50s now, but we're going to guess he hasn't lost any of his form (he has already informed Klaus of his intention to sweep the timed sections of the Fondo).

So if you're unemployed like we are, or you just want to start your weekend early, join us on Friday at 11am in Nyack for what will prove to be an unforgettable day.

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of participating in the inaugural Berkshire Cycling Classic. The Classic is a cyclosportif in Lenox, MA - a challenging ride with all the trappings of a bike race, but with the non-racer in mind. There were 2 options: a 130km course, and a 100km course. Team G+D (Mike and Brett) opted for the shorter route. It was an amazing day on the bike (and not only because Brett won). The area reminded us of riding in Belgium - lots of rolling hills, dipping down into small valleys, riding alongside streams, then climbing back up to ridges overlooking beautiful farmland.

Former pro Erik Zabel was the guest of honor, and he competed against local racers for the glory of victory in the 130k event (UCI World Tour sanctioned). Mavic provided neutral support (in cars and on motos), and with police at each intersection and spectoators all over the course, we really did feel like we were in a pro race. In addition we saw lots of friends over the course of the day, enjoyed near-perfect weather, and hung out afterwards for food and drink provided by local sponsors (The peanut butter and nutella sandwich was the coup de grace).

This is one ride we will keep on our calendar.

This year, we had an elaborate April Fool's story prepared about finding a barn in France full of NOS jerseys from a defunct cycling team. It was meant for our blog and we even mocked up a design to go with the post. It was going to remain just that - a prank, until we thought it would be even more fun to do a few samples of the jersey.

We immediately realized we needed to actually make and sell this. It's nothing less than ode to summertime in the 80's, and to our childhoods. We think the design speaks for itself (and we're worried that including the text of the "sponsors" would somehow find a way to our desk).

So, we'll be taking pre-orders for the jersey for the next few weeks - until the 21st of April, so do your taxes and pick one up! We expect to have the orders filled and out our door by June 1.

The jersey is produced by Sommerville Sports at a factory that might be responsible for a jersey you already own. This particular model uses a recycled Eco Green fabric, so you can feel good about reducing your carbon footprint.

Extremely limited to pre-orders only, so don't wait around on this one!

It is no secret that one of our favorite cycling publications of the past few years is NYC's own 9W Magazine. 9W is billed as a Journal of Cycling Photography, and each handsome volume is lovingly created and edited by our friend and fellow roadie Harry Zernike.

The world's supply of Issues 1 and 2 are gradually dwindling, but that is remedied by the imminent arrival of Issue 3. We're proud to sponsor - along with Ground Support Café in SoHo - the release party for this latest edition.

Come down to the café on Friday, April 6th. There will be some prints from Harry (and the magazine) for sale, as well as some limited tees from G+D - which will remain on display for the month. See you there!
